June 14, 2013

Wow, it is our last Friday in school!

Today is Flag Day! On May 30, 1916, Woodrow Wilson, issued a presidential proclamation establishing a national Flag Day on June 14.

The original flag had 13 stripes and 13 stars. The current flag with 50 stars dates back to  July 4, 1960 when Hawaii became our 50th state.

Did you know the colors of the flag have significance?

  • Red - hardiness & valor
  • White - purity & innocence
  • Blue - vigilance, perseverance & justice
