March 27, 2013 - G Day


Carmine is a bright red food colorant used in many foods such as yogurt and juices. It is made from a crushed African beetle-like insect.Carmine is prepared by boiling dried insects in water to extract the carminic acid and then treating the clear solution with alum. Carmine is often listed as crimson lake or red #4 in food ingredient.
