February 1 - Gross Fact

This little chick doesn't need a babysitter...


Fulmar chicks have a unique way of protecting themselves when they are alone in the nest. When you can't run or fly the next best thing is to vomit a bright orange, irritating oil which smells bad and clings to the feathers or fur of a predator. Not only is it disgusting, it is very dangerous to potential enemies.
