July 12 - More random facts...

In 1928 scientist Alexander Fleming didn't clean up his work area before he left on vacation. When he returned, some of his cultures had grown interesting fungi. Fleming noticed that bacteria wasn't growing near the cultures. His mistake led to the discovery of penicillin, the first and most commonly used antibiotic.
